      Documentary Review

I watched the Fyre documentary on netflix. A music festival that was supposed to be the most amazing time on Pablo escobar's private island, promoting Blly Mcfarlands new app Fyre. Frye was an app where you can book celebrities for private events and get the newest concert tickets all on one app. Billy wasn't new to this world he already was CEO of a company called magnises. A credit card company for elite personal, with the help of plenty of investors he made a multi million dollar company. BIlly Mcfarland then wanted to promote his new app Fyre by throwing the most luxurious music festival on Pablo escobar's private island with the most elite profiles, models, rappers, and headlining at the music festival, Blink 182. Tickets ranging from 24,000 to 30,000 dollars not including any additional fees. Mcfarland used many investors and wasted their money, Making promises to paying customers and people performing and not following through. From premier villas on the beach but only delivering a few leftover hurricane tents from hurricane matthew that were soaked through by a monusune the night before everyone got there. 350 guest had nowhere to sleep and had to fend for themselves, worst of all since they were charted onto the island, there was no way off.  Billy is now sentenced to six year in prison and three years on probation, paying up to twenty six million dollars.

Watching this documentary was really cool because it's all the stuff that I had learned how to do almost everything that they were doing, I may not be able to do it right now but people in our class could certainly do it if they had a really long time. They filmed while the making of this festival was going on, this was cool to watch things come together and then almost immediately fall apart.  Then to see the reaction of the people involved with the aftermath. Watching this helped me understand more about B role and how it should be put into the documentary. How the different shots can make things seems a lot better than they really are or vise versa.

When this was all unfolding In June of 2017 I remember watching it unfold all across social media. Someone tweeted out a picture of a cheese sandwich, when promised luxury meals, and it went viral. Videos of the tents and the lack of food, water, bathrooms, housing, and much more also all went viral. I would definitely recommend this documentary it gives you insight on something that unless you were there you could only see some of the story. I thought it was really easy to follow the whole story and understand what they were thinking while it was going on.
